Must be nice to be able to ride comfortably all year long.
But there is a down side. Increased temperatures means that the battery doesn't need as high a voltage to reach full charge, and unless your regulator is temperature compensated, (and Yamaha didn't think you needed that refinement, since they sold OEM batteries at twice the price ), you may end up over charging the battery on longer runs. That shortens the life time of the battery, as does the higher temperatures. The best you can do is to check the electrolyte level often, and see if the charging system is boiling the water away. After a month or two, you will get a feel of how often you need to check it, and add distilled water.

So I go buy the battery from Walmart and I filled it up to the line where it was supposed to be but there was only enough acid for 5 cells and not the last cell. I will be going back to Walmart to complain and to get a different battery

That is why I buy mine at Meijer's. I had the same problem with the brand Walmart carries, I took it back, looked at every box in the place, the acid container had the same amount in each, not enough. Who do you have that competes with wally-world?

I had the same thing happen to me at WalMart. When I went back, I made the clerk watch when I poured the acid in. Also, you might want to let it set for 20 minutes, and the level will go down as the plates absorb the acid. Add some more to the full level.

Can't beat the price of the Walmart battery, just open up the box and check everything in there before purchasing. I usually get 3+ years out of them YMMV

That was the problem. The acid was in there, but the container wasn't full. I figured that they used one container size, and varied the amount of acid for different sized batteries. Best bet is to fill it at the store, and when it comes up short you don't have to waste a trip.
You may have to brow beat the clerks to make them let you do it there, but explain that some of your friends (and we are all, all your friends, ) had problems with not enough acid in the jug.

The problem I found was NONE of the batteries they had on the shelf had any more acid in the container than the one that was short. So I could have spent all day filling every battery they had on the shelf and still be short on acid.

Just suggesting, take note of how much acid was in the container, when you go back, look at the other containers before you buy and see if they have more in them.

On all the ones I bought, the acid container was full to the top, have plenty of extra that will never be used.

There are other battery and automotive places, but none as cheap as walmart.

Oh. And to make matters worse... I filled the second battery and it was still short acid. I filled it in the parking lot since they wouldn't let me do it at customer service.

That's all they had in stock were two.

Then I had to fight the manager for my money back instead of waiting for the next truck for an even exchange.

They kept telling me the moment the acid is in it, I can only even exchange it.

So, I'm gonna either check other walmarts, and look at how much acid is in the containers ( they were an inch or so from the top)

                              Or go elsewhere.
