That's the 2H7 timing plate that you have on there. has to have the 2H7 TCI for matchup.

              Thanks guys!

The new TCI is in the mail, so I am hoping to have it running next weekend.

In related news, if anyone needs a 4RO TCI, I have a working one with freshly sweated solders.

Does your timing setup have a mech advance, that is the question.

I'm not sure what a mech advance looks like. I can take more pictures, but not sure what I am looking for...

The mechanical advance will be under there. If it's got it, which I'm fairly certain it does, and if it's not frozen. You should be able to turn the reluctor in the direction of engine rotation. There will be spring resistance.

Just to be clear, the reluctor is the little nipple on the shaft just behind the timing plate.

                            Hey Spayne,

I'm going to try to post an image from bikebandit.....yamaha changed their fiche site so it's not possible to link to them anymore.

Well, that didn't work, but here's a url link to the diagram, which shows the location of the cent. adv. parts....they are behind the adjustable timing plate.

                            http://www.bikebandit.com/houseofmot...38405sch230056

It would probably be a good idea to take the assembly apart anyways, to inspect the cent. adv. parts, clean and lubricate the parts...I can see a fair amount of rust and corrosion on there in your photos....good chance it's behind the plate as well!

The 4RO TCI is a bit more rare and worth a bit more than the 2H7 units., so barter with frugality.

                              Centrifugal Mechanical Advance

Pics from previous thread re what is behind his timing plate ~~> http://www.xs11.com/forum/showthread...ce+differences

This is an in-depth explanation as to differences in the 3 year models' centrifugal mechanical advance, and MUCH more. Spayne can take one look at these pics and guess at the "corroded, dry, and un-lubed" advance unit that's waiting on him behind that timing plate. Kudos to Crazy Steve for putting this thread up, nearly two years ago............................
