You may even need to bump the jet sizes up. I don't run straight pipes but I have a Mack 4 into 2 on my SG and a Mack 4 into 1 on my SF. Last carb cleaning I bumped bot the pilots and mains 1 size up and find them much more responsive.

The more intake or exhaust flow you have, the leaner the engine will tend to run.

Jets are cheap enough though. Stock sizes are where to start.

      unwanted revving issues

Thanks, T.C. and BA80-- will start at 1 1/2 out, and I plan to go with more of a muffler in a few weeks, maybe sooner if when I ride it home, my wife says it's too loud ( I like a quieter bike, anyway). I think that will help with the tuning, too. I will soon have some pics to view -- looking at less than a week. Pretty busy for the holiday. Thanks again!

No new jets in the mail yet, but will pull carbs, bring home, and install new jets Monday. Meanwhile, will install the TC fuse panel-- thanks, TC!

Looks like all the pilot jet action will have to wait a few days-- the service is slow from the jet company. Will be busy 'til the weekend, but will be on it asap.

            unwanted revving issues

OK----After all this, it's solved. To T.C.,DGXSER, and BA80, I can say with 100% surety, that the genuine Mikuni jets were the problem. I switched the K&L jets out, started it up, and the beast idled as new, held at 3000 rpms, and has great throttle response. I think K&L stands for Krappy & Lousy. It amazes me that such a simple cure is so elusive, and even amazes me more that they can sell those POS jets. I must say, I am pleased it was easy to rectify. There should be a warning thread somewhere, to keep others from going down the K&L jet path.
The blade fuse panel (from TC) is installed, and there will be pictures soon, so everyone can see the problem bike. Thanks to all gurus, as it helped to eliminate things to point me in the right direction. Again-- thanks to everyone for their help. Carbs are tough, but your help was just what I needed. Pics soon. unwanted revving issues

Hi all, I rode the XS F home after checking on a few last minute details. The bike did well, pulls hard, even better than my last bike-K75 BMW. Forgot how truly powerful these 1100's are. The pipes are too loud, so I will ebay those. I am putting a link to my pics here:

Thanks for all the help getting this scoot in the breeze!

                Mark,
You say your pipes are too loud and you will ebay them.
What do you want for them?? and what pipes will you be getting??
I have a 4 into one and want to make a change. I am curious as to what you will be doing.
                Thanks,

                  Mark,
The pipe are good, it's just the aftermarket mufflers that you want to replace! Looking at the pictures, you have the OEM headers with cross over, and you WILL loose bottom end if you change them out! Try going to your local HD shop, and getting a pair of STOCK 883 "take off" mufflers. You should be able to pick them up for about $50 for the pair. If the shop wants more money, go to a different shop.

Yes, keep those pipes. They look really good. Just get the Harley takeoff like mentioned. You will never get any better exhaust than the factory.

                      unwanted revving issues

Hi guys-- I will keep the pipes, just replace the slip-on mufflers, I think I mis-spoke on my plan. I have looked at some Emgo reverse megaphone mufflers for $55 (Powersports Supertore) each, and may install those. Still looking at options, but do know these mufflers I currently have are too loud. When I make the switch, I'll let you know, and if anyone wants to buy them, we'll make a deal. Thanks! Mark
