    Installing Honda gl1100 handlebar! ( need extended lines)

    Well, after plenty of fighting, it runs right!

    Some silly person installed some kinda drag bar on it and I hate it.
    Not knowing the size of the OE handle, and by others recommendations I am in the process of installing the gl1100 bar.

    My problem now is that the brake line doesn't reach....
    I noticed that my brake lines are ancient and needed replacing anyway... So, on ebay I found this,

    I just noticed I also need a new clutch cable.

    The throttle cable looks like it'll work... I think...

    This should cover me I think... Yes?

    Anyone else who installed the handlebar please chime in and lemme know what I'm up against.

    the other thing I can think of
    is the length of the wires coming from
    the switch blocks.

      I'm not too worried about the wires I can splice them myself as ugly it will be, it'll at least work

        Maybe if I bought the cables meant for the special with the wrist breaker bar....length might be similar

          I know for certain that I have put bars on that measured very close to the GL1000 bar dimensions with no problems with wire, cable, or brake hose length. But then I have only owned Special models, so I am sure that would help you out.

            Awesome!

            When I get home I'll measure the cables I have and brake line, maybe they aren't even oe...Lol

            If you wouldn't mind measuring the special cables n such that would be a great help!

              The motion pro part number is the same for the special and the standard...


              Maybe I don't have the oe clutch cable at all....

                The aftermarket cables are a bit on the long side so they will fit the Special and the Standard, that is the reason for the same P/N. I have taller bars than the GL ones on my bike and the only thing needed to be changed is the brake hose, the clutch cable can be routed differently on the outside of the fork ears to give extra length.

                    No help for you, sorry, but Goldwing bars went on my Special with no alterations.

                        SPECIAL different than standard. according to your signature you have an F (ie.standard), Dean has a special.

                          I used a 22" caliper line I had laying around. Whoever put the low bars on your bike may have put a shorter hose on there. Just measure how long you need and there are many suppliers that can make you a custom hose with fittings. MikesXS sells a few different lengths that may be close to what you need.
