        Throop, look at the diagram in post #29, the kill switch, in on position should have continuity from one red/white to the other red/white, and your start button(when pressed) should have continuity to ground(in handle bar, I presume)

          Ok, so where are you measuring at? Moving the switch almost can not lose the power that was there on the red/white wire from the fuse. So it almost has to be internal to the switch.

          You can find a replacement switch HERE

          Be careful cleaning the switch is there more than a few small components like springs and c-clips and small metal balls that will search out remote crevices of your work area that you may never discover. DAMHIKIJK

            How are you checking for power? To check voltage, one meter lead has to go to ground. If you're checking between the two wires, closing the switch takes away any difference of potential and the voltage will 'disappear'. If you are checking to ground, then chances are very good that you have a poor connection in a plug or connection or a partial short to ground.

            Go back and carefully read this: http://www.xs11.com/forum/showthread.php?t=35339 until you understand it, then check each connection starting at the fusebox.

                  Cool, good job finding the problem!! Now, I would highly recommend you not stop at that one connector, take the next rainy day and pull the tank and seat off, the headlight out, the side covers off, and start at one and working to the other cleaning each and every connector on the bike. And especially the ones hiding behind the fuse box mount.

                      Excellent! While you are out riding, stop in at your favorite parts store, and get a tube of this stuff;

                      After you clean the contacts, apply some grease to both halves, and plug them back in. You will be good for years of worry free connections.
