    Caliper wont fit

I tried to put my front brake calipers back on tonight after putting in fork seals and I cant seem to get the left side caliper to go back on. Once the pads are over the rotor, there is still about 1/4 inch to go before I can get the mounts on the inside of the fork.

I looked in the book and didn't see anything but is there supposed to be a washer between the speedo sensor and the fork? That's the only thing I can think of that would cause this.

I am not certain on the Standards as I have not worked on one as of yet. However, the Special I know has no spacer / washer. The parts fishe for the Standard shows no spacer.

Is the caliper itself hitting the fork? Or is the brake pad not fitting?

Of course you can try pushing the caliper piston all the way if it is not now, and see if that helps. JAT

you have to make sure that the pinch bolts are loose, and only axle nut tight....then set your left fork tube to center rotor in caliper, and then tighten pinch bolts...

            Ditto that...

My bet is the speedo drive isn't seated/lined up like it should be.

The speedo was fine but Miku was right. I had tightened the collar first, then the castle nut.
