Well I got new wrapped headers and mufflers installed today. Installed the carbs and she fired right up, however didn't sound quite right. Hooked up the sync guages and got all carbs synced well. Noticed it didn't run quite right. Started pulling plug wires. No change with #2 wire unplugged. Swapped with #3. Still dead on #2. Swapped my extra carbs on, didn't run the best, but she did die down with the plug wire removed.
So now I know it's the carbs. Thing is I have cleaned them 3 times completely torn down. I can't figure it out. I want to keep the '79 carbs(spares are '80). The #2 body is currently soaking in pine sol. If it persists after I reassemble I may be looking for a #2XS400 carb body. Anyone have a similar problem? These things are squeaky clean and I only have trouble with #2the with these carbs. Valves are all newly adjusted to spec and I got 110lbs compression on all 4 today.
