  • Standard/80G front turn signals

I believe there is unobtanium status of turn signal mounts for Standard's.

My 80G came with a beater Pacifico fairing, and I would like to convert it back to stock, if you will.

    Couple of things...

-Can a round Special headlight bucket fit the Standard mounting ears? Or is the Standard bucket the only fit?

-What turn signals have been substituted due to the hard to find nature of Standard mounts?

    Thanks in advance.

You could mount special turn signals in a standard bucket (mounted like they would be on the special).

Howard, here's a pic to show you what it'd look like:

That's my SG's lights on my G. My fairing broke badly and I needed a headlight and signals PDQ, so I pull them off my nonrunning SG.
The adjustment arm on the bottom was a bit of a PITA, so the light aimed a little high.

If you noticed, that's not a stock SG light. At the time, TC was borrowing my standard bulb for his HID comparison test, but the housing is stock.

So in simple terms it looks like a Special headlight housing and headlight along with turn signals will graft right on to the mounting ears, yes?

If you headlight ears are snug, (they don't flop around left to right)
and your G will have an extra wire that would have run to the running light, (the SG signals only have one filament for the turn light)
and you'll have to play with the adjustment linkage to make it aim right.

Yes, simple answer it'll fit. (might not look super pretty)

              Hey Bonser,

The Standard signal mounts are just POSTS on a bracket that bolts to the front edge of the lower triple tree fork clamp bolts. You can see them on the parts Fiche site! I would think you could fab up something similar to bolt there, then you could mount the aftermarket signals from Partsnmore.com onto them. PNM shows both a rectangle 1 wire and 2 wire signal....but the colors are red/black for the 2 wire, but it doesn't say it's a dual filiment running and turn signal socket??? But it's the right shape!?

When I relocated my rear signals due to my saddlebags, I just welded some pipe onto the bag brackets, and was able to clamp the XJ signal housings onto them.
