If I'm not mistaken, that's the indigo blue factory paint job on your bike.
It's amazing that Mother Yammy's paint still holds up after all these years.
Someone on here has refinished the emblems with some black and gold paint, but an option is to get new ones. My SG has red vinyl sticker/tape over the letters. It looks really cool.

I know what you mean about life getting in the way of our bike repairs.

I haven't had a day off in almost 2 weeks. Everyday I come home and I see that spare engine just sitting there ready to go in my SG and I think: "If only I had a few days off to deal with that."

I hope you find those stones for the dremel, TC's a great guy, always helping us out.

        Finally an update.

well after getting the engine bolted up Ive been workin like a dog. I was able to go on leave last Thursday for a few days and just hung out around the house. Ive had a good amount of time to mess with the bikes and do things around the house. Ive been out on the 850 a little and getting the KZ ready as the next project.

As for the xs11, it has to get together again to be able to move on to the next project. lol

This weekend I spent a lot of time working on this thing. First thing was to change out the ignition switch. I got that done then moved on to putting back together the harness. It was a mess. I got it sorted and re wrapped fixing some things along the way. I have everything routed but need to hook in the lights once i get to that point.

I put on another set of bars. Not what I wanted but what I had laying around and they were straight so on they go. I put on all the switches and levers and hooked up those electrically. Replaced the starter solenoid, put in a battery, turned the switch and cranked it over. It has great spark. Guess im on track with the electrical. lol.

Today I moved on to the carbs. Took all of them apart and cleaned them. I think I used to be faster at this. lol. 3 of them had the diaphragm put in wrong but they were savable. No rips or tears. Everthing cleaned up nice. I cut the old rubber off the fuel T's and put in o-rings. I replaced all the screws that hold the carbs to the racks with new hardware and installed the carbs and pod filters.

From there i want to the exhaust. I got one side on and probably would have been able to finish it if i wouldnt have spent so much time looking for parts that didnt exist. I thought for some reason that the exhaust in the 11 was like the 850 and had those half circles holding the pipes in place. Well it doesnt. I realized that about two hours later. lol Live and learn I guess.

Still lots of work to do. but here is what i got so far.

Still have to finish exhaust, clean the tank put on the fuel valves, get headlights, front turn signals and rear turn signals that dont stick out into the other lane. work the brakes and find out why the rear disk is contacting the rear brake bracket, and get some sort of usable rear brake pads. The old ones were trashed. Tighten up everything just to make sure. Fill the fluids up and get this thing started.

            Nice pic!
As far as the front goes, I've got both the round (special) and rectangular (standard) lights and buckets and front signals too.
For the rears, you can reuse yours, but you'll need mounting posts:

Parts and More has them for $7 each.
            http://www.partsnmore.com/parts/yama...ting%5D=custom
You may be able to find them elsewhere, but at least here's a pic so you know what to look for.

Just noticed that you don't have headlight ears, so You can have mine too, I'll just have to pull them off the bike first.
I ended up putting the Windjammer back on the SG, so I don't need my headlight(s) anymore. (never again will I go without a fairing, too many bugs)

Its Alive! Well i haven't ridden it yet but it started up and ran for about five minutes. Needs carb synced Im sure but sounds pretty good.

Thanks George. Not trying to rush you but when you think i could those parts from you?
Do you have a use for the fairing off mine?

How much leave you got left?
I could swing by your house Thurs after work.
My bike is currently sidelined with a flat, so I'll be in the car/truck, so I can easily bring both sets of headlights/turn signals and let you choose which one will look better.
I'll have to pull the headlight ears off, that might take a little time. (I'll do that Tues afternoon. Sorry that my Monday and Wednesday afternoon/evenings are booked)
I'll bring my sync rig too so we can tweak some and dial it in. (unless yours will work)

Yeah, I can definitely use your fairing. I'll probably put it on my G. (though I might like it enough to put it on the SG instead)
What are you plans for the bags/mounts?

Anything else you think you might need?

Great Thursday sounds good. I have to work all day Wednesday and should be home around 5 Thursday afternoon. I was able to get a few trips up and down the street today between rain storms. Needs work still but at least it runs. The engine is noisey compared to johns. Sounds all in the top end to me. There is also a rattle type noise that gets predominate between 4 and 5 thousand rpm.

As for the first and second gear issue, its completely fixed. It feels solid going into first and no trouble shifting into second. Thanks TC !!!

I can't think of anything else that i may need besides rear pads and figure out why the disk is contacting the bracket. Im going to pick up a few little things tomorrow like nuts and bolts but that's about it.

Your noise up top may be valve shim clearance issues. Did you check them?
The rattle may be a loose cam chain, check your tensioner. If you want, I can steal the ACCT that's in my G and bring it too.
Those stock CCTs can get a groove/detent in them from the set/locking bolt and then under power the plunger can work its way out back to that point.
I'll bring my old stock on so you can see what I'm talking about.
