I have some of the special/rare sized tools you may not have, like the 27mm socket for the clutch nut, as well as calipers for checking the clutch plates and springs, torx bits, etc. and can bring them by. - - -

FWIW, 27mm is the same size as 1-1/16" so the wrench from the inch set will work perfectly.
There are several "near misses" (11mm/7/16" 14mm/9/16" 16mm/5/8" etc.) where the mfrs wrench tolerances let you get away with inch/mm wrench swaps but 27mm/1-1/16" is the only one that's perfect.
OK. within 0.0005".

What I've found is the smaller metric sizes really need the correct wrench, but once you get to 19mm (.002" less than 3/4) and larger, the inch sizes usually work just as good as metric. It can also depend on the 'tolerance fit' of the tool; some are better than others, but that can be true of both metric and inch tools...

Hey Fred,

Thanks for that, but wasn't sure of the extent of his tool set? Even those nice 100+piece Craftsman sets usually only go up to 3/4" max, and the Clutch nut is quite a bit larger, and I already had the 27mm socket, just trying to help him not spend anymore $ than necessary. I planned on both possibly having to go back into my clutch more than once, as well as helping others, so I made the investment in the socket. And even though it's not Impact Wrench grade, I have used it with my Impact wrench, much nicer/quicker getting it loosened than trying to use/hold the foot brake, log in the spokes, breaker bar and such. I'm sure that with just a few hits with the Impact wrench won't destroy the socket compared to if I were using it on a regular basis like on tire lug nuts and such!

I guess its official Im going to go with a military theme with this bike. I got my saddle bag replacements today. Ammo cans! they are just a little taller then the originals.

they are pretty close to the same size, i thought they were gonna be alot bigger for some reason.

Hi Charles,
a mil. spec. theme is easy after you have found a source of matte olive drab paint.
Fizz the entire thing cables and all.
The orange peel, runs etc that need to be dealt with on a civilian bike only add to the authentic look.
Don't forget to paint over the badges and stencil YAMAHA in black atop of that.

yeah me to. But when I went there to get them the guy was like this is the size. maybe we could extend them? resize? hell i dont know. lol

If the chrome frame around them is used it would have to be adjusted about an inch or so.

Would have to be painted black or green. lol

My cans are 1500 round 7.62x39 ammo cans. The measure 17.5"x14.5"x8"

hey Phil,I contacted CP and his saddlebags are cracked pretty bad,so I think it's pretty cool using ammo can's.I personally would keep the fairing,but hey,it's his bike.

If he doesn't want the fairing, I want first dibs on it! I'm trying to make/keep my G a touring bike and the WJ5 is nice and all, but the G would look better with a more factory looking fairing on it.
Plus, then I can permanently move the WJ5 over to the SG.

I'm hoping to swing by his place this weekend and introduce myself.

I've never seen one of these bikes upside down in person.

You know the funning part about this is both John(Nightengale) and now Charles (cpmaynard1980) both got 81's that were fairly intact. I wish I could have found either one of them first.
I was little late on trying to get some of the fairing parts from John, I think DPotter got them... Oh well, at least those went to a good home.
