    Hi Charles,
what sarcasm? FWIW, Brit. civilian bikes co-opted into army service at the start of WW2 were painted khaki right over the decals and the chrome.
Bikes built for service use didn't have chrome & decals of course and came in khaki from the factory.
You can see WW2 bikes at vintage rallies that were civilianized when they were sold to the public after WW2 and then re-militarized later.
They loose marks if the camo paint is too smooth and shiny.
OK, suggesting a black stencilled YAMAHA was sarcasm.
Authentic WW2 regimental markings are the usual thing.
Buddy's 1942 16H Norton is painted and marked the same as his grandpa's WW2 dispatch rider bike and carries the same accessories.
Except Buddy's bike's Sten gun had to be made permanently inoperable.

Thanks For the comments everyone. Ive been off for a bit, busy with work and all.

      @MaximPhil & Cuda 69

Thanks for the comment. Yeah it looks pretty good in the pics but the pics really do it justice. Both bags have hinges broken odd of them, missing keys and one lid is cracked all most all the way across. The fairing is in good shape but the plexi is scratched in spots and there is one little spot on that rubber trim that has a little rash on it but not on the actual fairing from the previous owner laying it over real slow. The trans was shot, the carbs need to be reworked again and the top end is making an odd clicking noise thats going to need attention. Everthing that is aluminum or metal for that matter has a fair amount corrosion. The paint dosent really look that good up close. Im sure its missing other things too her and there. every thing in the first pic was just sitting on it.

I originaly bought it with the intention of useing bits and pieces on my other two bikes and parting the rest of it out on ebay and craigslist or whatever. when I found this site I thought that it would be a good place to part it out but trolling around on here before registering i changed my mind and decided it was worth saving.

The ammo cans and the military theme are just ideas for now. Havent done anything crazy yet that cant be bolted back on so it may return to stock. My 77 kz was mostly stock and there was no way I would have cut that up so I may just take the fairing off and do the standard light and leave it mostly original. I dont know yet. But I really appreciate all the feed back, comments and help that this sight has given me so far. Thanks Guys.

Just started to continue work on taking everything apart. Just a heads up there are two of those little guide collars on the oil pump. I found that out by dropping one in the engine.

I know its not good but how bad is this?

I found spot on the frame today when i was working on it that looked like a crack in the paint. I though it was a little odd so I sanded it a little and found these cracks and just behind them the frame seems to have a bulge.

it also looks like there is a good amount of powdered rust on the inside of the frame. When I stick a scribe in there its attracts the rust.

The cracks are right at the front of the frame where it bends around under the timing and alternator covers right?

If it were my bike I would weld and reinforce the frame at that point, but I'm betting the frame doesn't get tons of stress there because it's actually in between the front motor mounts and the one at the bottom rear of the tranny. Of course I could be wrong...

I'd try mig or tig welding those holes closed. If it's rusted out bad enough that you just burn more holes, then a frame replacement or serious repairs may be in order. But FWIW, I've also not heard of a catastrophic frame failure so in the end it may be a judgement call... but it would suck to do a rebuild on the bike and have this get worse later...

I get 1.2558 OD and 1.042 ID on the frame piece that I use on my engine stand. That of course has a bit of paint on it to factor in.

That frame got full of water. The water froze and broke the frame. I've seen that before.

I would agree with Marty form the looks of it. Bulges out like it was pushed form the inside out, long crack. Just like a frozen water pipe. It is amazing powerful water can be.

If it were mine, I would want it fixed or replace the frame. Way to much riding on it, like your life, not to make it right.

Well I made a little progress today. I got the gears out.

but I dropped and alignment thing for the oil pump into the engine.

                            heres the gears

fished this out of the engine.

Well cant do much more with the 1100 so I started tinkering on the 850. calipers were tuff to put on then bled the brakes now they are dragging like crazy. Go figure. Not sure if its one caliper or both.

So between the cracked frame on the 1100 and the brakes messing up on the 850 I need to sell these three bikes and get one good one. lol.

                              Hey there Charles,

Yeah...those 4th gear dogs/1st gear slots are very worn/rounded very similar to the "Machinegun-XJ" that I worked on several years ago. SO...again, if you don't feel confident in your dremelling then I'll be happy to work on them for you. I've got John's(Nightengale) gears that I'll be doing a wee bit of grinding on, his 4th/1st dogs and slots are almost PRISTINE looking-minimal signs of wear but there is wear, so since they are out will be dressing and undercutting them as well as the 2nd/5th combo, and moving the washer. Just waiting for him to provide the dremel stones.

Charles, you probably need to pull the 850 calipers, take them apart, check for corrosion inside the square/O-ring groove, clean and reassemble to have the caliper pistons move more freely....probably 1 reason why they were so hard to put on in the first place. But also may need to pull the MC, clean and check the spooge hole/return fluid hole, they clog easily, see the tech tips for info on them....fine piece of wire usually will get it open along with some lever pumping to swish the fluid around.

I think John is a more experienced welder than I am, and he's closer so he can probably help you with your frame easier/better than I.

You should get some measurments of that little round dowel pin. It is probably just one of the locator pins for the head but the oil coolers use something very similar but just slightly bigger (and I am in need of one of the oil cooler ones!).
