  • gas?....what gas?

OK......carbs removed and back on, fuel lines ran under carb connecting tubes with filters. Filters are installed with arrow going towards carbs. Petcock rebuilt and flowing well. Left carbs getting fuel...rt. side none. No fuel in the line going to the filter on rt. carbs. Any info on this one?

Do you still have the octy and if so are you certain the lines are run correctly?

          gas?

          1. No Octy.....2. Plenty of gas on rt petcock ( carbs 1&2 are running fine ). I have the rt petcock feeding 1&2 carb.they are working fine. 3. Tank 1/3rd full. I removed the turn handle on the lft. petcock while it is on the tank and its flowing good.....no restrictions. I have fire on 3 & 4 spark plugs.......dry when i remove them.

IF you get good flow at the petcock, the tank has plenty of gas, and you get no gas at the filter, it may be a kinked line, or it could be air locked.

I know there are several folks that have used the cross fueling method (right petcock feeds left carbs and vice-versa) very successfully. I have never had success with that, I always get an air lock in the line. This is why I feed straight from left petcock to left carbs with an inline fuel filter. I loop the fuel line down to where it almost hits the engine when the tank is down, then comes up to the T at the carbs. This gives me plenty of line to lift the tank.

              What Doug said

I never had much luck with in-line filters as a whole, but if you can get rid of the airlock it should work ok. Something else to check though with the specials is when you push the tank down into position, that final half inch, it can kink the line right at the petcock.

                gas?

Thanks guys.....all good stuff. I looked at running the fuel lines straight to the carbs......what kind of filters did you use?.....must be small ones?

HERE is the fuel filters I use. I can get them from a local MC shop that deals in dirt bike and ATVs primarily. They fit between the air intakes of the carbs.
