  • fuel line again

OK so the original size of the fuel line is 5.5 mm ID.I found some fuel line that is 7 mm ID -is that way to big?It is a ---ch to get it (the 1/4") on my Pingel petcocks. The 1/4" is just too stiff.I found some 5.5 mm fuel line but can get the 7 mm line in a big roll.

Didn't know you had aftermarket petcocks, 7mm is inbetween 1/4 and 5/16. That might be ok for the Pingels but might be too big for the octy and the T-fittings?

The Pingels have big hose barbs-5/16"-i can squeeze the hose(1/4") on but it is a --- ch as i said.I cant seem to find thin wall Tygon. The fuel line i can get in 7 mm is for Moto Guzzi motorcycles.

Sounds like you may have to use some type of a 5/16 to 1/4 reducer straight fitting to go from the petcocks to the octy if the fit of the 7mm line is too loose at the octy. I guess you could use clamps of some sort at the octy if need be with the looser line. Tie wraps will also work as clamps in certain situations.

Will have to see if its too loose on the fittings.Someone told me to soak the fuel line in hot water before mounting to stretch it out and get it pliable.

I like to "stretch" fuel lines over the nipples so that I don't need the hose clamps. They can be a bitch to get of though. I use fuel line from the bike shop and I think it is Tygon.

                in line fuel filter

i used a in-line fuel filter on mine that would use both 1/4 and 5/16. since my petcocks are stock which is 1/4 and i am using fj1100 carbs which is 5/16. so i ran 1/4 line from the petcocks to the in-line filter and 5/16 from the filter to the carbs. works great and also i now have the added security of the in-line filter and snug fit at both the petcock and at the carb. just what worked for me, hope this helps.

OK so i ordered fuel line from a guy on E-bay.7 mm ID line kind of thin wall but it does not easily go on the octy.It goes on tight but definitely not slip on by any means.I definitely don't need clamps to hold the line on.I also got the stock black fuel line from another shop that was going out of business.5.5 mm ID fuel line. That goes on the octy no issue.I guess it depends on what the fuel line is actually made of.
