Dont know if anyone remembers the Golf cart badges threads, but for just looks seems some made use of them with mods.

    These were for Tank badges

From that read, IIRC the two off set screw holes on emblems have to be elongated a tad.......and are silver only, so no help for Standards.

        Gas tank badges

Recieved message today from Power sports that Item recieved by them from supplier was not consistent with Yamaha part 2H724161-00-00 and supplier did not have correct part so order is canceled monies will be refunded.

Still no word on side cover badges.

The good part about this is that Powersports determined what they were supplied with was not what I ordered and canceled before shipment to me.
To fix the problem one should not make more assumptions than the minimum needed.

I also have to remove my emblems soon so let us know how you get on.
I have heard about the fishing line idea too but ofcourse have not tried it yet.
I am thinking of a couple of pieces of dowel to wind the line around and form two handles then keep the line as close to the tank as possible and work it back and forth. dental floss might also work

Dental floss works great. Waxed floss is what I used and did the trick, just need to take your time or you'll be snapping the floss often.

Side note about the emblems. They are a little more pliable or a softer plastic than what I had on my 80Gs. With the 80 screw on emblems I was always cautious about them breaking or cracking. But the 81 emblems secured with adhesive seem less likely to crack.

And no screw mounts below, so after cleaning off the gunk below the badges, looks like a nice smooth tank, while waiting for the replacement badges to arrive.
