  • Throttle cable

    Hi all,
My bike was Idleing very low so I adjusted it by the handle bar, looseing the nut and turning the long thing till it sounded like I wanted it to. The issue that came up is when I turn the handle bars it pulls on the throttle cable and reves the engine, I can grab the cable by were it goes behind the headling and move it and the engine revs. what the fix?

The main idle adjustment is in between carbs 2 and 3, below the carb bank on the front side. First, put some slack back in the cable up at the handlebar. Next, adjust the idle speed to your liking with the main idle adjustment thumbwheel at the carbs. Now at the handlebars, take just enough slack out of the cable so there is no change in idle speed when moving the steering from left to right. Got all that?

Not the place to adjust throttle. There is an adjustment between the carbs a long screw held in tension by a spring. You adjust Idle speed using this. The cable you should route in a path to where it is not pullled or pushed turning the bars. You should have a little slack in the cable when fully returned having it to where turing the bars gives it throttle is dangerous so you need to relocate the throttle cable path to where is has freedom to move.
To fix the problem one should not make more assumptions than the minimum needed.
