Replacing OEM Oil Cooler Lines

Anyone know if it is possible to replace the OEM oil cooler lines. They seem a bit specialized and may be quite difficult to replace but I am not a hydraulic line expert so maybe I am wrong. Here are some pics.









And the little seal that goes in the end (I am missing one).

Funny thing is, it looks like at some point in the past one of the lines WAS replaced. One line is braided fiber line and the other is a braided stainless line.

Here on LI there are two places that I know of that will fabricate custom hydraulic lines. You might want to check your local yellow pages.

Yeah, I was looking for something......cheaper. it is at a shop now, quote "Shouldn't cost more than $75-$80." That's more than I paid for the whole cooler!

Anyone have one of those little seal things?

Is it possible that when one of the lines was replaced the tube and o-ring was added because that fitting was different or damaged? What type of psi does the oil system on an XS have? I have made fuel systems in the past with just flare fittings. Most automotive brake systems are like that too. I was also thinking that the tube insert could just be something to locate the o-ring while you assemble the system. Does it fit in both sides? If so it might be something you can duplicate. I really hope this is something that can be remedied easily and cheaply.

Only a Guess

I suspect that oil pressure on the 1100 is <100 PSI. So most any hydraulic or braided line used for repair/replacement should work.
