  • Nedle jet/nozzle main

    Good-Day
Had a 1980 XS110SG given to me and my son to restore/ practice work on. We've hit a major snafu. I wrecked one of the needle jets trying to remove. Yamaha & no after market suppliers even offer that part any longer. Removed the other 3 no problem once we found out the easy and right way to do. ( we trying to follow the repair manual) I believe we can get the bike to run if we can find a new needle jet and get the carbs back on the bike. Can any one spare one or know where I could find one. I have spent hours on line searching with no luck. I see there is going to be a lot of helpful information on this site, hope to use it often. Thanks for your replies.

p.s. when I say spare I mean sell me one.

Yeah the clymers manual is bad. It says to pull the nozzle with needle nose pliars (or something like that). Can you believe that? The horror!

I know that's exactly what I tried and broke the half shroud off, the other three once I took the washer out off the bottom of the tube i was abble to easily use a punch and get the other out damaged free. Now to find a replacement. Any suggestions?

It would be helpful if you tell us the number stamped on the side of the emulsion tube, this way it will be easier for folks to look thru their parts box to try to find one for you.

Ok, so you are looking for the emulsion tube, I thought you were looking for the meeting needle. As Phil said, we need the number off if it. There are several different versions, and there is no grantee you have the original carbs or the original tubes.

I have a source that can CNC some new nozzles. I just need a good example to take measurements from... Is this anyone is interested in?

Im not sure how many variations there are but I have ones from my '79F I could use, could anyone loan out the other types?

Ron, if you have the original correct carbs on your 80 Special, you should need an emultion tube marked X-2.

Phil, that doesn't help. Yamaha identifies all of the XS/XJ emulsion tubes as 'X-2' but there are variations in the number/location of holes in the actual tubes between models. Maybe it's not supposed to make any difference, but if it does you could be chasing your tail with tuning issues. Look here: http://www.xs11.com/forum/showthread.php?t=382 for a pic of different versions....

Yep Steve you are correct, the X-2 is just the style of tube, there is another number stamped on them.

                    I'm pretty close to you

I think I have some spares but as stated, we need the number. It should be 300 X2 for yours I believe.
