Charging?
If you have no evidence that the battery is being charged by the alternator (at a high idle), check the muti-conductor connector at the
regulator/rectifier - specfically the larger guage wire. Look carefully for corroded terminal blades inside the connector or for evidence of a burned wire.
If something is damaged needing replacement inside the connector, you can cut the affected wires and reconnect them outside of the plastic connector.
When checking the battery/chassis grounds, improve them by adding another cable betwen them so as to have them being grounded directly to the battery (and chassis). Chassis grounds are poor grounds.
