    Personally I find if I use the shorter version of blind plug from NAPA or any other source, they will not last. If I use a longer version of the same blind plug they seem to last much longer. I know you ask why, and to me it is only because the extra length allows it to flex without said flex to be right at the top of the nipple. It would seem that the blind plug needs some room to flex as opposed to sitting tight on the top of the nipple. When it sits right tight to the nipple it wears out faster. It may just be me that has had this experience so far but I would not be scared to give longer blind plugs a try. It seems to work for me. YMMV

        Actually, given how often I have had to replace the "cheap" ones from the autoparts stores, I would say 2 bucks for 25 years IS cheap!
