Have you changed the oil to a winter visocity? 20W50 is way too thick for temps that cold. It will lug the engine down and make it hard to start.1980 XS850SG - Sold

Fully Vetterized and Dynojet Kit added, Heated Grips, Truck-Lite LED headlight, Accel Coils, Irridium plugs, TKAT Fork Brace, XS850LH Final Drive & Black SS Brake lines from Chacal.
Here's my web page devoted to my bike! XS/XJ User's Manuals there, and the XJ1100 Service Manual and both XS1100 Service manuals (free download!).

Your best bet would be to get, or download, a manual, which gives you all the information that you are seeking.

You might also try putting a cover over the bike and putting a light under it to help keep the bike warm...Fast, Cheap, Reliable... Pick any two

I have not yet switched oil from 20W50 to 10W40 on mine over the winter. Now I do not ride every day or often at all below 50 deg outside. But I have started and ridden in 30-40 deg weather without the engine fighting me at all on start-up. But then, mine is in an enclosed but unheated garage.Life is what happens while your planning everything else!

Just changed out the oil. Will see how it is tomorrow. Today it was 50 when I went to work and it started just fine. It was 42 by the time I got off and wouldnt start. I waited a few hours for it to hit 48 and it fired right off.Nate
