  • Considering selling all of it

I haven't ridden either of my bikes in over a year. Work has me on the road Thur thru Tue. 3,211 miles every week (400 miles more in winter as we will take a southern route then).

So I wonder if this would be a good deal for someone.
    1978 XS1100E:

    Some of the work/upgrades:
Drilled brake rotors, SS brake hoses front and rear, Tkat forkbrace, XS750 final drive (have original), Jardine 'spagetti' exhaust (have original), Dyna coils, K&N air filter, double bucket seat (have original), and much more.

    1980 XS1100LG:

1196 big bore kit, Superbike handlebars (have original), RC Engineering 4 into 1 pipes with SuperTrapp baffle/discs.

I have all the parts to put both bikes back to stock appearance plus ALOT of extra/spare parts (a case of Fram oil filters for example).

Does $2,000 sound like a fair deal for the whole lot of bikes and parts?
(I thought I posted this last week but couldn't find the thread).

Pat, looks like a good deal from here, only way ti woud be better is if you were driving through town to deliver it to me, then I could take the deal!!

I'd say $2000 would be a good deal for JUST the LG! At least DOUBLE would be a steal for the whole lot!

          Pat,

Whether or not it's a good deal depends upon how bad you want to get rid of it and all at once. I believe, at that price, the whole mess will go away pretty quick. You might get twice that money, but it probably won't go all at once or nearly as quickly.

Pat thats a heckuva deal...I wish I could take them off your hands...if thats what you really want...after 30 yrs owning my XJ...I sold it over the summer and even though I too wasnt riding it much...I still miss it and am wasting time looking for another. If you're really not in a hurry then next spring would be the best time to sell and get more $$$ as well. That LG is really nice...

It would be an "all or nothing" situation. I feel members of this group would be appreciative and deserving of the low price.

If I got back into riding later I would go for a newer bike requiring less 'fiddling'. The Honda ST1300 has temped me.

You won't get the best offers this time of year. You might want to wait until spring to offer them up for sale. Man! I am not much of a special fan but that bike is niiiiiice!

I just realized that the post is from Pat Kelly. Damn Pat is it true? Are you selling out? Getting old? (kidding). Pat's bikes are undoubtedly tuned to the max and have been well maintained.

After sitting for a year they are not in the best of shape.
The LG will start but not stay that way. Probably the old fuel in the tank (no rust).
The E would not start last year, needs a new battery. The old, discharged battery keeps it from starting. It was also leaking fuel out the airbox (did that occasionally, have another set of carbs).
Lots of things steering me towards this. Mostly I'm just tired. I could use the cash to start my next project, resto-modding the 1983 Camaro (see signature).
I know if I put new gas in the LG it would run good. I would then take it for a ride and decide not to sell them. Still in limbo about what to do. I have actually had some offers already. I'll be gone all week for work to think about it.
I'll check back in next Tues (my Fri).

Damn Pat, for 2 grand I seriously consider renting some container space and shipping them out here, if i had some money of course....

The MNS would easily fetch 8 to 10k in this part for the world, and the exchane rate is 80 cents in the dollar at the moment, so your 2k US is only 2 1/2K NZ. Damn thats a bargain. Wish I had the money

I think anyone should be thrilled to get either of those bikes for $2K each, even if they do need a carb cleaning... that MNS is easy on the eyes, I bet its a fun ride.
