    need new cct QUICK..raptor 700

    Today i found out my oem CCT is fubar, and I've got a big road trip this coming sunday thru wednesday! So I found this raptor 700 acct on ebay and I'm hoping I can get it shipped fast...

      They are 'bottom' holes, so your original allen bolts WILL have to be shortened bout a quarter inch.

          Make sure you follow the procedure in the manual for cam chain adjustment when you change it and have your bike on the center stand. You don't want to throw the cam timing off.

              So you're saying go buy shorter bolts, or actually physically cut them? Can/should I shim them out w some washers as a last resort? You are dealing with a mechanically handicapped person with very little experience here..

                  Can do that, or better yet run down to your local Ace or Tru-Valu in their specialty trays when U get the other tensioner and get a couple metric allen bolts shorter for less than a buck. For reference, just put one of the original bolts thru the stock tensioner and use replacements that protrude the same distance on the replacement tensioner.

                      I'm running a Raptor CCT. I ground the ends off my bolts. Also made a gasket out of some fabric reinforced rubber material. That and some RTV and it's tight as a drum.

                          Be very careful about cutting or grinding the old bolts. As you say you are mechanically handicapped, if you don't have the first couple threads on the cut bolt right when you go to thread them in the hole you are just going to F' up the threads in the hole.

                          Just go by new bolts. You could bet 2 shiny new stainless bolts for under $1.

                              +1 what Natemoen stated! A gasket is NOT necessary as they are both machined surfaces. A thin film of high-temp grey silicone will seal from any seep or leak....cleaning preperation is key always. This also goes for valve cover, shifter cover, oil pan and clutch cover.(still have new OEM gaskets in packages on shelf for these).

                                  Just to follow up, if anyone's curious... Got the CCT yesterday and installed it, and ive never experienced the bike running this well and idling this smooth in the year ive owned it, quite an improvement. But im not sure why i had to go buy shorter bolts? the flanges (or whatever its called) seem to be the same size/length on the stock CCT

                                      I also put 2 raptor ACCTs in my G and SG and I didn't have to shorten my bolts either.
                                      Maybe the shorter bolt issue is on the Vision/V-Max ACCTs?

                                              Interesting, casting must just be a tad shorter on the Venture/VMax tensioner housing. Being 'bottom' holes, just didn't wanna see anyone fracturing the head casting.
