I'd like a wiring diagram because I droped the motor back in after almost two years and have a couple of connectors left over and I'm scratching my head.
One is a dark green female bullit connector that comes off the solinoid end of the starter cable.
The other is a red/yellow male bullit connector coming out of the wiring harness above and to the rear of the tool box.
Any help here will be greatly appreciated!
It sounds to me that the R/Y gets plugged into the green from the starter solenoid. That's the 12V that is the bypass of the ballast resistor during start.

that seems to make sense George. I recently came across that green wire but I didnt use it. I must have an 81 harness that did not have the two R/W wires for the ballast so I used coils with 3 ohms across the primary. and I probably have an 80 solenoid with the green wire, and IIRC the wires to the TCI were missing those red wires that are shown in the schematics. so I am assuming that my clymer manual does not have the latest diagram of the 81 SH harness.
but it does show the R/Y wire from the TCI tying into the starter side of the solenoid.
I knew I wasnt the best source of information on this one.
Let us know how you make out Eddie
Thanks Guy's for the input.
I too was leaning in the direction that they get pluged together, It just goes against my instincts to plug two wires together that are different colors.
I wonder if there is anyone out there with a 1980 XS1100LG that would be willing to have a look at their wiring and confirm plugging those dissimilar wires together??
