I was briefly looking at their website and didn't see them, but found them on ebay right away.

I always like businesses websites rather than ebay cause it is usually cheaper.

          Rear caliper

Anyone remember what the size of the rear caliper piston is on an SF?

Do not the size right off Mack, but, all the rear calipers are the same size. Ok, with the possible exception of the XJ and the LH.

Digging up an old thread: I need to replace the pitted rear piston on my '79 XS1100F... brakecrafters (who I have used for a friend's MS rear caliper rebuild) only lists a rear piston for Special rears, or standard fronts. Is the MS rear the same as a standard rear by any chance? Thank you.

Looks like I need a 38mm OD piston?

EDIT: Answered my own question with a very useful post from Steve:

Here's what I found, scroll down to the Product Fitment section to cross reference. Curiously they don't list the 79F even though the part number is shown on the 79F parts fische.

Thanks LAB3, in this case I need the actual piston as it turns out mine is horribly pitted! I had initially hoped I could still use it (the pitting would be out of the range of where the seal travels) but the caliper started to stick after some riding this spring. Also my rebuilt (but also pitted bore) master cylinder woes are back, thankfully I have a spare to try swapping over.

I've had plenty of success over the years polishing old pistons with 600 grit paper followed by 1500.

Stainless pistons are much better than stock. Keep that brake fluid clean by flushing every two years.

XJ4Ever.com can hook you up with many of the parts on our Xs1100's. The brake caliper pistons are listed along with size measurements and year of fitment. The catalogue is kind of a pain to use but there is a virtual myriad of parts available.
