  • Carb?

    I'm thinking sticky float.
Bike runs great. Until I let off the gas. It will sit at 3k rpm for a second and drop to 1k. And be fine. If I hit the throttle before that she will piss and mown. Strong gas smell. Half power and back fires.

    The bike history
P.o picked it up for 900 in Seattle. Took it to Alaska and down to key west. Problem started on the way from key west to ft lauderdale Everything else butchered on the bike was a " just get it there" fix I do the same.

    My history being first post
Vespa up down east coast, western europ 1 carb is easy.
Cx 10k ish once a year trip 2 carbs if seafome can't fix. New bike time.

I dont have any fix for your problem. Just wanted to say that youre going to be oing through a ton of bikes if youre not willing to do more than Seafoam to them.

      Welcome

Could be a number of things, but pulling the carbs off and cleaning them inside and out won't be a waste of your time. Make sure the butterfly shafts moves freely and snaps closed all the way to the idle screw before you reinstall. By the sounds of it, this would also be a good time to investigate all the emergency repairs and make them more permanent.

+1!!! If seafoam is your only tool than buy a newer bike.

You are going to have to open up and clean the carbs manually.

seafome and a #2 screw driver

I was hoping for an electric problem , post owner said they were done, 5k ago. Mabey by the same guy that cut every hose and wire to make it run. and forgot the filters.
Carbs will come off. I talked my mechanic up to 20 to take them off. Have to talk him down to put them back on. 20$ save an hour in the sun. Good deal.

I'm not qualified to sync them, but there seems to be enough info on hear to figure it out.
            thanks

We can talk the most mechanically inept through as ling as they are willing to listen and follow directions.

Go though this thread and you can clean them yourself. For the cost of a few cans of spray carb cleaner.

                Carbs

Like Nat said, you should do them yourself. If your going to own and ride one of these big dudes, knowing your carbs is a must.
