    hey guys, i was on about a year ago and i finnaly got a few pics sent in of the progress, should be done this summer. it's been one of those hit-n-miss projects, but i got going pretty good this winter since i baught a welder. mostly just minor stuff to finish up,fuel line plumbing, wirring, controls,seat, fender support....well hopefully it will be done soon. anybody know if someplace sells drag pipes for these? i have a set from a honda 750 that i can MAKE fit but...

    When I worked at a Jeep repair shop, the owner was into the Dwarf cars (little race cars that look like 1930's roadsters with motorcycle engines). Since the engine was turned sideways, the exhaust had to turn 90 degrees from regular bike set-up. Muffler shop down the street did it no problem.
    Why not do like on Am. chopper and make your own?
    Just my 1½ cents worth. Looking forward to the pictures.

      yeah, that's my next option. only problem is trying to bend thin wall tube without kinking it(no mufler shops near by). the other option is to buy madrel bent pieces and cut\weld them into a complete pipe set.

        hey conrad where are your pics

        I've been sort of curious on choppers ever since watching occ
        and i have considered chopping an xs
        i have a parts bike, so it wouldn't be like ruining a real good one

        but after looking at the steering head on the xs standard
        there is alot of gusseting on and around it

        did you modify the original frame or go with a whole different one
        and did you start with a standard or a special

          hi guys. don't know about the pics, i sent them but maybe did it wrong? as far as the frame goes, i left the neck area alone, going more for the "bobber" look then the typical long fork chopper. what i did was cut off the whole rear section, from the engine cradle back and bult my own rigid rear section, with about an 8" stretch. i believe it was a special, but honestly i am not sure of the difference.

            So Conrad, you cut off the rear end, so does this mean your going to use a chain drive rear end. If so,I sure whould like to see some pictures, because I'am trying to find some info on switching to chain myself, so I can switch to a bigger tire and a custom rear fender.

              then send us a link to them

              when you reply to this post, up above where you are typing there is a button, marked IMG
              push that then type in your storage for your home page on your isp

              kinda the long way around
              but it would take up alot of space on this site if everybody uploaded all there pictures

                  ok, i think it worked. sombody let me know?
                  sorry bikeboy, cant help you on the chain drive, mine is staying shaft and the driveshaft will be getting stretched. however, by eliminating the swing arm and leaving the driveshaft exposed, there is a little bit more clearance for a wider tire, maybe. as far as a custome fender, odds are good you would need to notch it to clear a chain, you can just notch it to clear the shaft. that's what i'm doing, anyhow
