Just remember, if the bike doesn't get ridden too much, always a good idea to add fuel stabilizer of some sort. These carbs as you know have very small passages which easily clog with todays crappy fuel, glad you got her running well, good luck!

The fuel additives are a good idea. I added some after the fact. So it did not do any good. An additive that is being talked a lot about recently is K100. All of the motorcycle/4 wheeler dealers are carrying this now. Supposed to be better than Sta-bil. I bought some from K100 direct (online). They have additves for gas, diesel, etc. Supposed to combat the bad things that are in gas nowadays.

Hi Guys,
Concerning the ethanol in gasoline fuel issue, K100 Fuel Treatment addresses what they call "Phase Separation" on their website. Looks like this may be a possible cause of some of our pilot jet clogging. I am trying some now and will report the results as they come about.
Most all motorcycle/4 wheeler dealers carry K100. you can also purchase it directly form the website. They make a treatment for diesel fuel as well.

Hum, still wondering how phase separation can occur on a bike that's ridden frequently. The bikes bounce down the road and when we fuel up there's a strong current in the tank mixing it up. I'm simply not a believer in that application.
In a large fixed storage tank where fuel sets for long periods, I can buy into it. I do use Stabil for extended (winter) storage in my motorcycles, lawnmowers, and tractors when the equipment does not get used.
I have 3 tractors in storage that I start every 6 weeks. In October I will drain the tanks and fuel back up with fresh unleaded gasohol with Stabil. The tractors will not get filled again until next fall. The last 2 years I've drained the tanks and never seen any evidence of separation. In fact the fuel that comes out goes right into my Silverado's tank for "disposal". My main goal is to keep condensate out of the tractors tanks and hopefully prevent rust. One could make the case that I'm seeing the results of the Stabil and the tractors really just set.
In the tractor world the pilot/idle jets are the smallest in the carb and always the first to plug. I've never seen one plugged with water but I've seen a lot of real fine foreign material in themLast edited by WSL91; 07-24-2012, 03:23 PM.1970? Honda Z50... gone
