  • K&L Caliper Rebuild Kits

I'm looking for caliper and master cylinder rebuild kits for my '78.

As I've been looking, I could get the combined set of 5 kits off georgefix for ~$111 on e-bay and be done with it, but I found I had a rebuild kit left over from my XJ that says it fits the '78 front caliper. I'm confused about the part numbers and fitment.

    '78 Fitment:

K&L 32-1250 = Says fits front and rear calipers
    K&L 32-1605 = Says fits front calipers (~$6 cheaper than the 32-1250)

I will probably end up just buying the kit from georgefix, but anyone know what is different about the kit? Are you paying for an additional part in the 32-1250 that is only used on the rear caliper?

Edit: The 32-1250 apparently comes with a spring to hold something on...

The standard caliper and XJ front caliper share the same caliper piston diameter and seal, but the outer dust seal is different. The XJ just has a small 'mini-seal' and leaves the outer surface of the piston exposed. The standard has a 'full' dust seal that's held on with a round spring clip...

The '79-81 Special front uses the same kit as the XJ rear, that may be the kit you have. This kit won't fit the '78 brakes...
