I just got a set of carbs from Diverray. I was going to soak them tonight but after pulling off the bowls, they look virtually spotless. Should I skip the cleaning or should I dig deeper to look?

Started looking a little deeper and figured Id give them a good soak just to be sure. Overall things went very good. But I have a couple questions.
Two of the idle screws are a little deformed. Anything I should worry about or are these still useable?
Two of the fuel Ts are a bit rotted and dont fit tight. A problem?
Last, when I took the diaphragm out of the last carb a small BB fell out with it. I cant see anywhere it could have came from. Ideas?
Thanks a lot.Nate

The small BB came from the end carbs where the choke (enrichener) shaft goes through the body of the carb. They sit in a hole on top of small springs that act as the detent to hold the choke in the half or full on position. There should be another one and two small springs. Find them!Mike Giroir

I hope you didn't soak the carbs in carb cleaner !! If you did NOT pull the seals from the butterfly shaft first, you WILL have to pull them and replace them. That can be a few hours, and fun trying to pull the butterfly screws off. The ends have been peened over so they cannot come loose and end up in the engine.
Sent you a PM about the missing part.Ray Matteis

I have had luck finding things on the garage floor. If it is dark in the garage and the floor is reasonably clean, you can shine a beam of light along the floor. The long shadows can help you find small things.Skids (Sid Hansen)

I didnt get any other BBs or springs that came out. Guessing they were gunked up too much? Will be careful when I pull parts out of the bucket.Nate

Are the idle screws something common that I may be able to get here in town or will I need to get them online?Nate
