  • Looking for your thoughts on this exhaust situation.

Well I purchased some Harley Take-offs, but they are a tad big so I decided to mock up something and see what everyone thought.
this is just mocked up, I would have to fabricate a small mounting plate and a few more creative adjustments but I do believe I can get this to work. I apologize for the mess in the pics and not having the seat and side covers on.

WOW! Better make some stout support brackets for those zoomies! Those HD bagger mufflers probably weigh 10 lbs. each-minimum. I'm far from a guru, but you should be aware you'll have to rejet your carbs, if you decide to really use these. They ARE eye catchers tho.

          Brackets

well they already have a nice bracket with 2 bolts towards the end, I already have the stuff to build a bracket for it, then down where it connects to the pipe I will probably just use a Muffler clamp and then bolt on a small bracket from there to the frame where the original holes were for the rear footpegs.
I'll get a pic with the seat and sides on after I get home today.
I know it's a unique and unusual look, But I seem to remember seeing some like this on a different bike one time, probably not as big but, at least I don;t have to really modify the frame or anything like that.
They sure do sound nice though!

crazy steve- If only I had pics of some of the stuff I did in my earlier years.

You're right, IMO. I can't help thinking that people might find the appearance of the bike amusing. Not to be tolerated...

I think modern race cans would suit this model. Those HD ones really are huge....

XS1100E silencers are long... thse ones could look OK if they were horizontal, like the OEM ones and attached to the headers just under the footrests, like OEM)

                          ok ok

ok ok I won't do it.
They can be hooked up to the oem pipes but they are too fat and hit the frame, plus no place to mount them.
Keep in mind these mufflers only cost me $40 for the pair and I didn't realize how big they were till I went and picked them up.
I would love to get some more modern looking mufflers and mount them at an angle like that though I do think that would look sweet.

Plus with the power this thing lays down I don;t think I want the added weight in the back anyways, don;t wanna go to pass on the interstate and wind up doing a wheelie.

Yeah they came of a HD Street Glide. I think he said it was a 2008 model.
Think I will just put them on a shelf and hold onto them for a future bobber/chopper project.
