  • battery cables

hi guys, kinda dumb question but here goes. i cant find one of my battery cables. i can see the short one that goes from the battery to the solenoid which i assume is the positive cable (please confirm) but i can find the negative cable, i didn't remove it so i just need some help tracing it from where it goes. any help is appreciated, i'd like to finally ride today. thanks

hey kev, the pos lead does go to the solenoid,
the negative lead from memory is on the left side
of the frame near the side cover lock, then another
lead goes from there usually to the mid drive.

thanks pete, what you say makes perfect sense but i still dont see the negative lead. here is a pic

should i just buy a new lead and hook it to that screw with the other lead right under the tool compartment? thats what it looks like in the manual

i dont know what happened to my negative lead! i guess it walked off during the winter

Im on my fone atm bit hard to see,
but u can get urself another lead and attach it
        to that screw,
i also used to run another lead from the neg batt
to the regulator for extra insurance.

Just going from memory, but I do not remember another cable terminating at the same location as the negetive cable. What does the end of that existing cable go to anyways? (Maybe that is it?)

Your negative lead is there, but appears to be hooked to something else??!! The big wire connected to the frame right below the toolbox should go to the battery....

It looks like the neg lead is shoved into the crank case vent tube.

Now you opened up a can of worms, Nate. Now you're gonna have to figure out where the breather tube goes. CZ

WHAT? You mean you aren't going to tell us what the issue turned out to be after all?
