    PS nice score.
It's an SG John and it used to be a snake skin print before it faded.

      I though it was a 79?

Or is just the engine a 79?

        Hey again Xhops,

Okay, the ALT cover leaking! Before you go after the crank seals, the more likely leak spot is the small oil channel PLUG at the bottom under that cover. It's just an O-ring, and the plug is just pressure fitted and then HELD in place with the cover. DO NOT crank the engine or start it with the ALT cover off, unless you want to cover your garage floor with 3 quarts of oil!

You can get a set of nitrile O-rings from HF and probably find one that will fit that plug to seal it. Others have talked about tapping it and threading in a blind plug, but concerns of shavings in that hole getting loose into the channel which could end up blocking the crank bearing lube holes!

You could still have crank seal leaks, but I'd check out that plug first!

The one I rode to your place is an 80 with a 79 engine. Ol' okie. It can be mistaken for a 79 though because of the rear fender and tail light that's on it. I had to put those on there to make the seat and backbar work because there was no mount for the 80 tail light on that bar.

I got a 79 in the garage that's getting all the dresser stuff that was intended for the 80 you got from me though.
