air box rebuild step by step with photos?

hey guys well i found a set of carbs but now i am having to make one air box out of two is there a link or anyone have a air box step by step how t rebuild?

The one thing you need to keep track of is which inlet/velocity stack is which. They only fit 'right' one way; the inner two are the same, but the outer two are side-specific.

well i think i got it all right. going to get lunch then try to put the carbs and box on. might have to take the carbs back of to clean.

Test-fit the airbox to the carbs before trying it on the bike...

The reason I suggest a test fit is to make sure the inlets are all correct...

I made a rookie mistake of taking those two philips screws from top bracket outand the other two on the sides as well and I tell you...if you're patient it's not too bad to put it all back in LOL

One other thing that should be mentioned when swapping carbs/airboxes; while the boxes all look the same and will interchange, there is one mechanical difference. The 78-79 carbs have separate float bowl vents that go to nipples on the airbox. The nipples are on all the airboxes, but aren't drilled on the '80-81 versions. So depending on which carbs/airbox you have, you may need to drill or plug those nipples...

You've got the late carbs IIRC, so you don't need the vents. If the vents are open on the airbox, you should plug them...
