I've bought two of them. I was just a bit concerned about the price, they seem too cheap really and you only get what you pay for. I was really wondering if anyone else here has experience with these coils.Automotive Imbecile.

Don't know, the seller doesn't really give any info about the specifics of the coils other than it is for a 12 volt system. None of the relevant resistance are given.Nathan

Well, looking at the larger image, will see if this link will work?
It looks very close to the OEM designed coils, and he specifically states it's for the 12 volt XS 11, but as Nate said, he doesn't tell you what the OHM's are, either 1.5 or 3.0...AND he also makes a mistake in describing it as for a CDI ignition system, which usually only use 0.7 ohms, whereas ours are TCI's, with the higher resistance levels!
They do NOT look anything like the Black MikesXS HT coils that burned up after 10K miles! You might want to write to him and inquire about the resistance rating....so you'll know whether you'll need to bypass your ballast resistor....but you can also check the resistance/ohms yourself once you get them in hand!

Thanks chaps. I was dreading the 10k burn out I've read about MikesXS coils but these looked different. It's a bit of a 'pig in a bag' I know but they look right and that's what persuaded me. I'll check the resistance before I install them. I'll let you know how they go, they're coming from England so should be here in a week or so.Automotive Imbecile.

OK, Primary = 3 ohms, should be 1.5 +/- 10% at 20 degrees C.
Secondary = 17k ohms, should be 15k +/- 10% at 20 degrees c.

Bypass the ballast resistor and ride it! Should work well, as T.C. said the resistance is good for the 1980 and up, or early with the ballast resistor bypassed.
I just plugged the red/white wires together, then wrapped them so they would not short(again!). I ran the green coils on my bike for quite a while with no problems once I made SURE the bypass would not short to a ground.Ray Matteis

Thanks Ray. I've got a heap of stuff to do, I've got a full front and back master cylinder and caliper re build kit and 4 x carby kits from Georgefix and new s/s brake lines to put in. I can't find anyone in Sydney who will do a proper ultasonic carby clean though. I've googled my head off without any luck.Automotive Imbecile.

You might be concerned about longevity.
These are rather small-looking from the pic and resemble some 'mini-coils' that are available. These smaller coils have the same (or close) specs as 'normal' coils, but when used with an older ignition system that doesn't have 'dwell control' will burn up...Fast, Cheap, Reliable... Pick any two
