Thanks everyone for your prayers and wishes. It still seems surreal. I mean, I'm here, alive, but stilind of dazed. I've been here since Saturday and have yet to look outside. knowing that the sun has come out, now that i should be home, is not encouraging. The details are still iffy, but its very likely we've found the man who hit us. He was arrested a bit later, in the area, on the side of the road, drunk, pretending to change a tire. From what i was told, there were marks from my xs on the front of the truck. It's hard not to look on it with regret. The LEDs I installed under the airbox for safety weren't on. The first time since I'd gotten to the beach that I hadn't illuminated a little extra. 4am on a Saturday is never a safe time to be riding, but i was caught up in the idea that we'd meet up with some others for breakfast and just have a good time. As it stands now, I've had 2 surgeries, with at least two more planned. Alana should be getting released soon. She's still real sore, but there's not much more that the hospital can do for her. She lived here for a couple years, so she has a friend that offered yer a room when shes released. It sucks but shell have to go home to Pittsburgh on her own soon enough. There's no way she can stay this whole time. Sorry so depressing, just a lot of time to think, not much ability for action. I'll be limited to zero-pressure on my right leg for about 3months, so i guess the trip to OC is out, haha. That's gonna be a lot of time out of work. Luckily I have a MC mechanics correspondence class I'm starting (as soon as i get someone to forward my materials) to occupy my time with.
We hired a lawyer yesterday. He seems sincere and pretty confident that the man the highway patrol found is who hit us, and with any luck, we can go after the insurance company of the bar that served him under some draft house law. That may be the only way to cover these incredible medical expenses, not to mention how ill be unable to work for up to a year, as I work a very labor-intensive job.
I learned so much about motorcycles rebuilding that xs, and so much more about life in its destruction. The kind words of strangers are a constant reminder that we are all united.
I believe the best thing to do now is celebrate the fact that you and your girlfriend both live and breath. Better yet, it sounds like you're going to heal...eventually. The rest of the stuff will have a way of taking care of itself. I hope you have someone to bring you cold ones when you make it back home. Best wishes to both of you.

My daughter went through something like this. Suing the bar may eventually get results but it seems that it delays payments from the auto insurance. It all sucks and I just hope you can get back to normal soon.
