When I got this XJ1100 the right petcock was missing the tips or nipples to attach the fuel lines to. Is ther any way to repair this or do I need to buy another set? (Or at least the right side.)

Are they missing compleatly? or maybe another member has the parts. Those brass nipples are just pressed in. I'm running short here.

Sometimes mine come out when removing a particularly stuck-on fuel line for carb removal. I just tap them back up in with the wooden handle of a hammer. I suppose you could disassemble it and sweat them in with some solder, but it's really no big deal to tap them back in and they don't leak.
I just looked at the parts listing and it doesn't give a part number for just those brass nipples.
Something you COULD do, if you no longer have the fuel octy on there, is carefully remove the front nipple from your other one and place it into the rear spot of the other petcock. You can either plug up the hole to the front one.. or just never switch the petcock to prime, as this would run fuel out the front hole.Last edited by trbig; 05-20-2012, 08:30 AM.Try your hardest to be the kind of person your dog thinks you are.

May have found a fix
Here's what I did. My wife wanted to go to Home Depot for some shelving brackets(pantry shelf fell off the wall this morning
). So while we were there I checked out the plumbing department to see if they had brass fittings. I figured it wouldn't hurt.
Found diferent sizes of these,
Bought a few different sizes so that I didn't have to go back to HD today. Found that the one tha fit the closest was the 1/4 barb
Put it in the vise and cut the middle stop out.
Had to file the barb that would fit into the petcock some then sodered it(not sure if i did a good job on that)
Now to test it to see if it leaks. If this does not work I will be looking on EBay for the right side.Ty

I doubt that you can solder them to the die cast metal used for the casting. The originals were likely pressed in. If you get something that fits right a tight a wipe of JB weld before pressing back in would work. We use that in a similar application on Ford tractors pressing the steel oil fill tube back into the cast iron block.1970? Honda Z50... gone
