  • Pictures of my wife's XJ1100

    It would seem that there have been a few XJ1100's change hands in the last few weeks. We just purchased this bike for my wife a couple of weeks ago (we though that her XJ750 was sold...now she has two bikes )

    The P.O. had made some modifications well it was not that bad. He took the stock handle bars and cut them so that they are more like clubman bars and purposely put dents in the tank to handle the lower bars. He added a SHOEI faring and a nose scoop

    Here are a few pictures;

    I rebuilt the linked brake system, put some fuel in the tank (it’s a little rusted I will need to clean and coat it) and put an older battery in it. The bike had sat for two years so I was not expecting much...it fired right up. Put a good tire on the front and took it for a short test ride. Has a little stumble in the lower rpm's (#2 cylinder is not firing when idling) but after 2500 rpm’s the bike leaps into action.

    Cosmetically the bike needs some help. The pipes are all banged up (laded down several times) Needs a new seat and I will need to do the second gear fix. Over all not too bad of condition (but I do not like the shorter handle bars they will be swapped out).

    lower fairing

    what brand of plastic is that lower fairing in front of the exhaust it looks like a piece I'd like to use on my project. If you could to let me know where you think it came from then maybe I could hunt one down.

        I have no idea where he got it or who made it. My wife has to decide if she likes it or not. I will be getting rid of the faring and the short handle bars, so If anyone wants them let me know. I do have the windshiled for the faring but it is all busted up.

          I have an XJ too and if we could get rid of that huge stepped seat and swingset looking rear grab bar we'd probably have a pretty cool bike! I'd probably get rid of the handlebars for myself but have to admire the creativity of the PO.

            that front wheel is not from an XJ...like the rear...also missing at least one side cover prolly the other but cant tell...pos paint job and a seat thats toast...that fairing would look better with a bigger headlamp...but it looks dorky to me along with those short bars...still an interesting project to bring it up to par. I have a full MAC exhaust forsale 4 into 1 ...bought it used and never put it on my XJ...PM me if you are interested.

              I swapped my sons front wheel and tire onto it just to get it inspected (his bike need to have work done on the exhaust so it’s just sitting) I do have the XJ rim. I will be ordering new tires in the next week or so.

              Yea that seat is in bad condition. I'm getting a used seat off EBay for her bike and will get that one recovered for mine (Mine has a lot more work just to get in riding condition).

              As far as that headlight when I test rode it last night, I could hardly tell it was on. I plan on putting a round light on it and either fill in the gaping hole or just remove the faring all together.

              I do have the side covers but I am in the process of polishing and repainting them.

                I think it is so wild when people say heres my WIFES 1100. If my wife got on that she would probably not be able to hold it up but on twist of the throttle and she would be flying behind it like a kite until it hit the ground. My wife is 5'3" and 110pds. She did have a honda rebel years ago but that was before we met.

                      It does not seem to be choped up. It is missing a baffle or something that should be around the light and in the pictures the wind screen is removed. There are no markings on the inside of or on the windscreen.
                      This is what it should look like;

                          I'm suprised that no one noticed that the PO modified the spedometer. He removed the needle stop pin and put marks indicating upto 150 mph. I have no idea if the readings are acurate. He clames to have had the bike upto 148MPH (he said thats what he was clocked at the time he lost his licence.

                            Most likely it is not accurate and I cry BS to his claim of top speed.
                            In his mind he was going that fast but an XJ never would do it due to its gearing and redline.
