I supose you could put rearsets on an XS11, but when I think of rearset pegs, I think of sport bikes not 600 lb plus bikes. On my Special even the regular pegs fall pretty much back and I only have a 29" inseam and my legs feel lke they are more cramped than they are on my FZ1. The seating position on my bike just doesn't work well with foot controls that are under my butt. Can't beat the smell of gas & oil

Rearsets
The British model of the XS1100 came stock with foot controls which are set back. They have linkage to the gear shift and a modified rear brake lever. The foot peg mounting plates are modified to accomodate these changes. This is a bolt on mod with no other work required. I acquired mine with the help of James England in England. The parts are much more available on UK Ebay because that's where that bike was sold. You don't see them over here that much. Contact James for more info. He is a member of this forum. I have had to make this mod due to the fact that the ergonomics of the US bike doesn't fit me. (6' 1", 30 inch inseam). They also have bars which fit this riding position. This is not a radical rearset, just enough to get my feet behind me. This mod also needs their shift shaft cover plate to accomodate the modified shifter linkage.Larry Walker

The 'euro' 2H9 version of the standard has different foot controls; they're moved back about 3" and up about 1" for more of a 'rearset' mount. The parts are bolt-on, but there's a bunch of them. You need the pegs, muffler/footpeg mounts, brake pedal, shift linkage, shifter cover, plus the hardware. Here's a pic of one of the pegs....
You'll need to watch eBay in Britain and Germany to find these. One forum member here purchased a set, I believe it ran him about $150 by the time he got all the parts and shipping.Fast, Cheap, Reliable... Pick any two

Footrest, folding brake lever and master cylinder whilst being made
The folding brake lever was made so it'd fold up out the way of the kicker as well as the footrest.

I was just looking for ways to increase the handling of my 79 special, and i wanted to go for a cafe look too. so thinking back to any tight turns i made at higher speed, the footpeg was the first thing to scrape, then the muffler or the center stand. so i was going to get rear sets and get a muffler that turned up so the bike could lean over more. i'm still on the fence about the center stand, not sure if i'm going to remove it yet. the convenience of it is great, but i want the bike stripped down.1979 xs special, just finished the top end rebuild and then i still have lots of work.
