Thanks guys. Do you think that since the tabs are still on and the bike runs really well after warmup that maybe i should just leave those screws alone? I would have to pry the caps off to turn them and i like having the caps on there since they are original. I dont think i took the jet out of the bottom of the bowl for the enrichment and clean it, so i think that is probably what my problem is, do you guys agree?

You are going to need to remove the caps, pull the screws and clean the passages underneath. The caps could be put back on if you are carefulNathan

I never knew that the 78/79 carbs had caps on the idle mixture screws. I've had four sets of carbs and not one had those caps. Learn something new everyday.Ty

If those are the same caps that are used on the 650's, they can be pried off and re-installed. Take a hair drier and blow hot air at them for a few minutes, to get them warm. There are a couple of tits on the underside that grip the needles. YMMV CZ

I didnt want to start another thread. My bike runs really good now but pops on decel and i have read where i need to adjust my mixture screws. Wich way makes it richer? Is out richer and in leaner. thanks.Jeff
