  • Viton Float Valves

Rebuilding carbs thinking of going with new viton tipped float valves to possibly help seal verses the original? Have you ever tried them?

For which bike? Your 79 can't use them unless you've got later carbs, and your XJ already uses them. The float needles/seats are totally different between the two sets. The later seats push in with an O-ring seal and the early models screw in.
Try your hardest to be the kind of person your dog thinks you are.

You can live to be 100, as long as you give up everything that would make you want to live to be 100!

There are needle and seat sets that will fit the XS carbs but they are actually for a Virago I believe.

But then, you are on your own figuring out the float level setting.

I meant to tell you the other day Gordon, get it running good with STOCK stuff first and then decide if you want to change things up.

Your going to have a tough enough time that way. Why make it harder?

Some have complained that the clips cause the floats to stick but I have them on mine, along with the stock brass needles, with no issues.

Either way is OK just make sure the float drop is adjusted so the needles can't bind up.

Absolutely the best advice I've seen BA80!................Life dealing with these scoots would be much simpler if more would adhere to these principles!
