So last week I rode my bike to work as normal, everything was fine on the way in. Got out to leave, and noticed I had no rear brake, the pedal just went to the stop with no pressure.
I grumbled and rode it home on the front brake (which is fine, honestly), and tore it apart that night. Pads were OK, but the rear caliper had leaked fluid and the system was extremely low. I figured there was some grit or something behind the o-ring, so pulled caliper and master cylinder apart and cleaned thoroughly (though it was all relatively clean). Put it back together, bled perfectly fine.
Queue a week of bad storms, today is nice and I'm taking a 140mi trip to go camping tonight, so I load up on the bike this morning -- there are no leaks in the rear, so I figure all is OK. Ride to work, no events, park, and notice that there are a few drops of fluid leaking from the rear caliper, running down the bracket.
Crap.
So, I guess I'm going to go ahead and take my trip tonight and just make sure that I top off the master cylinder over the weekend, but I need to be able to replace that rubber o-ring in the caliper, I guess. Ebay still the best/fastest place to get it, and that's about the only thing it could be, right? I don't guess anyone would have it locally, would they?
I've thought about going ahead and ordering a new piston while I'm at it because the one in the rear is a little scored up, and could use replacing.
