  • turn signals dont work again....

    i been thru 3 differnt left contols and all three have crap'd out on me. all 3 solderd wires brake off every fing time...so i guess my question is has anyone ever retro fitted a newer sport bike control to these bikes....im ok with wiring and have the tools to push the pins out of the connector and have simmular female/male connectors

    I have resoldered the wires back in....if that helps you at all.

      See i have tried that but it still brakes. I clean the **** out of the contact points then soliderafyer about 2 weeks it brakes again

            You're going to have to look at what wires go where, as compared to the original switch assy. Repinning the plug may be required. Remember, these are XS650 parts. If you're willing to do that, it will work just like it was made for your bike.

              While it is not a plug and play switch, it is also not that hard to switch which wires need to be switched. The whole MikesXS switch is same as ours but the wiring at the plug does differ. Just a matter of following a few wires and re-doing them.

                ok so 51 buxs compaired to a 25 dollers for r6.r1 switches... i guess as long as there is the same amout of wires (should be) i guess ill be ok...my main question was if there were any member useing a modern set of switches..

                  There may be some out there that would work, but the problem would be finding some that use the same switching arrangment as the XS. While somewhat common back then, many of the more modern bikes use simpler switches with black boxes to perform the flashing/cancelling. There's really no 'standard' arrangment for the turns, you'll have to do some research for a switch or change the rest of the wiring...

                    And the biggest problem are the 7/8" bars. Not really Amy of those around now days.

                        Maybe in the cruiser crowd, but damned near every sport bike uses 7/8 " bars
