  • oem cct backed out......

I 've been trying to get my carbs lined out, and had made a couple of 5 minute test rides to evaluate. After remounting the carbs this weekend, I just fired her up and got nasty cam chain noise. I hadn't heard it after my last test ride a few days ago. It was previously set to factory spec. I loosened the cct bolt and heard it take up slack. When refired the noise is gone. Is the factory spec torque on the cct bolt of 4.3 ft.lb enough? Has anyone else had this happen?

Oh yeah..... that's one of the motivations that spawned the auto CCT mod. While not real common, it's been known to happen and has trashed a few motors over the years. Hard decel is what usually does it...

Thanks Steve. I did some forum searching but must not have been thorough enough. Whoah, I must have gotten lucky. I shift up after hard accelerations when testing, but should probably pull in the clutch. Hopefully she'll be ok. I have a 660 Raptor tensioner in the garage. I guess it's time to put it on huh?
