I have presynced my carbs bread tie style the idle screw has been turned to where its about to fall out the throttle cable is NOT caught on anything and yet when ii start it it is still at 5000 and immediatly starts to climb what is causeing this nonsense

You are talking about the single big knob idle screw in the center of the carb bank correct?
Try disconnecting the throttle cable and starting it just to humor us.

I think it was TRBIG who posted how to set things to the three small holes in the top of the carb and end up with hald of one of those holes showing to do a synch. Good solid advice and if I can find it I will repost it.2-79 XS1100 SF
