so apparently there are 2 different cables....the specials use a shorter one...i was supplied 2 cables from 2 different members, one was a little longer than the other....originally i didnt check this out, so i removed the cable, checked the lengths, and one was a little shorter...i installed the shorter on, cleaned the adjustment screw, and everything seems to operate correctly...i am now just waiting on the rtv to dry before testing it...i will let yall know...
so which one worked? I have another like the one i sent you in my saddle bag and would hate to find out its not right while out on the road and I'm too lazy to pull the one of the bike to check it. The one i sent should have fit your sg.

i need to figure it out...i got one from you and one from another member...the shorter one worked for the special...its only like 1/2" shorter, but that little bit made all the difference in the world...

In any moment of decision the best thing you can do is the right thing, the next best thing is the wrong thing, and the worst thing you can do is nothing.
ive got the shorter one in and clutch adjusted, it rides smooth as butter now...thank u everybody for your help...so now i have a longer clutch cable if anybody needs one...( im guessing its a standard cable, and the special is the slightly shorter cable?)....

Glad you go tit working, that is the key issue no matter what the cable length. However, I would think if one is shorter than the other, the Standard would be the shorter, due to the difference in handle bars between the Standard and the Special.

Yeah, I was cruising down Ocean Bullevard, when my Sting Ray started acting up, I took it to the Shell station, the guy said I had blown a seal. I told him to fix the car and leave my perosnal life out of this!!
