I did not synch the carbs yet, but I should still be able to regulate the rpm's right. After HE warms up, idles around 600, but jumps to 3K and keeps fluctuating while I ride. Never drops below 2K when riding. Now what?

That's a sync problem.... you won't be able to get a good idle until you do that.Fast, Cheap, Reliable... Pick any two

3rd attempt at reply
I am using a 4 gauge setup, one of the gauges is missing the dampening/metering knob. I am alternating to compensate. Also my readings are (using inside #'s of the dial) around the 50-75 marks all the other video's i've seen show the readings in the 200's.BAMN!

The number readings are not important, the goal is to have them all the same. Try sticking an old pilot jet in the vac line of the guage for restriction to settle down the fluctuations.2H7 (79) owned since '89

I know, I know hurrying as this will be my main form of transpo for awhile.I got it running ok for now, but thanks for reality check especially as beat up as the unit looks. Gonna test drive before it's too late, then I will do that.
