to make a rookie mistake... Thanks to petejw from my previous thread, "exhaust popping", he suggested broken mixture screw tips, sure enough, over seated, and they got stuck in the housing and snap not one but three off....
Not only that, but they're stuck in there, didn't fiddle with them yet, I needed a mental break, plus the wind kicked up and temperature took a drastic change for the cold, I figure I'll be using a dental pick to pust them back out. So now as an added expense, I get to buy new ones...yaaaayyyy me!
On a positive note....the exhaust doesn't pop anymore after sealing the exhaust up completely.
My first clue should have been, only would run on nearly full choke...which I forgot to mention
