    Hi Folks

This bike sold on eBay UK a couple of weeks ago for approx $8,525. The person who bought it has put it up for sale immediately at almost double that.... a hefty $15,550.

The bike is nice (although not actually proper UK spec) but, love 'em as I do, I don't think it's worth that, do you?

It's a beauty for sure and I've seen that level of bike for sale at The really big auctions such as Rhinebeck, but unless he has Jay Leno in mind, he's in for hard sell.

It certainly is a beauty, and I agree its taking the P a lot on the price, we're having the same discussion on XS11UK forum at the mo, bought it from ebay for £5,500 and put it straight back on ebay for £10,000.

In what way is it not UK spec? I see the sidepanel badges, not sure about the tank decals but I can't see anything else.

Somebody is trying to feed somebody a line of BS....

If that bike is 'all original' I'll eat it. A very nicely done rebuild, but there's all kinds of wrong details if it's a genuine UK bike, not to mention missing parts and wrong finishes. For starters, it has a US 'miles' speedometer rather than the correct kilometers version, the sidecovers are also US spec (the non-US versions had decals, not plastic emblems), the locking tabs on the brake rotor bolts are missing or painted, the rear footpegs have been painted, braided brake lines, and those fork gaiters. And that's what's easily visible from the posted pics; I'm sure a in-person examination by someone who actually owned one would turn up more. What the seller is claiming borders on fraud...

Nice bike, but not worth the money. James, your bike that you sold was closer to 'original' than this one, even with the 'incorrect' exhaust...

            Hi James,
where's the quiz button that says "Only if some fool will pay that much"?
What stuff is worth and what it will cost to get it ain't always the same.
One time I heard of a single Woodbine cigarette being sold for £2 on a dark rainy night on the Yorkshire moors.
BTW, what's not proper UK spec about it? Something obvious or something only a triviamaster would spot?

We use miles over here, my UK bought new XS1100s have the same speedo's as that bike.

One thing that does make it look original UK spec is the black plastic headlight bolt caps. US versions have yellow reflectors. Its one of those details that generally get overlooked by folk trying to pass a US XS off as UK.

I'm still not sure ........or bothered

Another one, do any of the US XS's have the rearset gear lever/ footrest like this bike? or is that only a UK/Euro thing?

UK bikes had completely different handlebars (ask Steelraider... I sent him some). No fork gaiters. Def. no plastic badges.

No way it's a UK spec bike

I can not remember if it was here or elsewhere somone mentioned he had purchased one that was still crated never been dealer assembled and only paid 6,000 US for it so I do not think that its worth what he is asking. The other issue is it has 10,000 miles and even though that is low I have seen lower here. It is a really nice bike but I have some shinny old pennies too but the bank won't give me a dollar for them. The other issue is like Steve said it does appear that there has been some great restoration but that does not add that level of value to this bike.
To fix the problem one should not make more assumptions than the minimum needed.

Is the tank and the side covers different colors, or am I just seeing differing reflections? They seem to be a shade off...

The seller is either ignorant or is knowingly committing fraud...

Quote from the listing description '...Original exhaust still fitted in very very very sound condition with chrome just like new, Original paint work, original Mirrors, in fact totally original all round, This bike has not been restored...'

He's claiming it hasn't been restored, but there's just too many 'wrong' details for that to be true. Missing decals, some wrong parts, and a bunch of allen cap screws in places they didn't originally come; no paint wear around the ignition switch. Somebody should report this guy....

Wait, did the Euro E have dual horns? I thought the dual horns didn't come till 1980? Or did those come sooner outside the U.S.? But yeah, the more I look the more things look fishy, like a nice refresh, but not original, things are just too nice to be completely original unless it was stored in a sealed container in an inert atmosphere for the last 30 years. Yes it's nicely restored, but some things were done wrong, just not quite right. I wonder how good it looks if you REALLY look at it closely .
