He's claiming it hasn't been restored, but there's just too many 'wrong' details for that to be true. Missing decals, some wrong parts, and a bunch of allen cap screws in places they didn't originally come; no paint wear around the ignition switch. Somebody should report this guy....
I agree. Just for an example this is the ignition switch on my 02 R1... 10 years old 10k miles. as you can see there is visible wear on the ignitions switch. and all i have is a key and rubber key chain.

      Hi 'top,
the colour you see on your screen may only approximate the original. Had to ask a poster why his plate mount was navy blue, he claimed he'd painted it black.

Agreed that the price is a little steep but it's not the first time I've seen them fetch what seems like ridiculous money. Couple of years ago a guy over here sold a 79 standard on ebay for $9000 NZD, ($7500 USD) and theres this dude http://www.trademe.co.nz/motors/moto...-447515611.htm and this dude http://www.trademe.co.nz/motors/moto...-358313486.htm

Trikes been listed for ages, and probably wont move anytime soon, but the 79 Special has a good chance of selling at that price, and its not even a tidy one.

What you're seeing is the status that age brings. They're becoming collectable's in some parts of the world and people are becoming prepared to pay serious money for a good one.

        Bring it on I say.

            Value

Let's get back to " is it worth it?"

In the free market it's worth whatever someone is willing to pay. I guess that's yet to be determined.
But remember, just as Barret-Jackson keeps raising the price bar on collectables, so does EBAY.

Gentlemen, If someone buys it, we're all that much better off in the future.

Err... the bike in question is £10,000.... UK pounds... about 16,000 US dollars! Would your hands need any prying at all???

Are those the stock shocks on the back? They are definitely not the stock US shocks on any XS11 I have seen.

My best guess is, he saw it for sale at the original price and one of his buddies told him it was worth twice that or he read some "guide" telling him it was worth twice that. Probably has no clue what is should look like or not. Bought it for an "investment".

If it does sell for that price, well, the rest of the XSs just got that much more valuable.

They're standard for a UK bike.

UK bikes had completely different handlebars
The bars look identical to the ones my UK XS11 came with when new

You're right! THey are the correct bars.. I looked at a photo on the eBay listing which didn't show them to best advantage.

Here's a pic of the standard UK bars... they are completely unique to the XS1100 and were never used on any other bike...they have two very sharp bends in them (per side) and these bars feature on all Tamaha publicity posters etc. They were part of the much-vaunted 'ergonomic' riding position of the bike.

The XS11 we're talking about is cheap, compared to another bike from the same eBay dealer.... http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/HONDA-SUZU...item1e69c7ac7e

I agreed with you in my post.... you're right, they're the correct bars on the 10 grand bike. I posted a response with pix, then looked at another pic of the 10 grander and realised you were right.....so edited my post.

Sorry old chap, my head in the clouds

The bike is nice but definitely not worth £10,000! and as you say isn't a completely unrestored/UK correct example that the dealer makes it out to be. This dealer is known for his comedic prices .....but he's still in business so someone must be paying those daft prices
