I'd be speculating, but the PO might have used the loctite to 'seal' the idle mix screws in place. Once set, they usually aren't adjusted ever again.
If the PO had air leaking past the screw, or vibrations 'loosing' them up some, then I can see the purpose of using something like loctite to fix it.
The problem is that stuff will eventually get sucked down into the carbs
Maybe acetone might be a decent solvent to loosen up the loctite.

Good luck, at least you have an idea of what might be in there, now it's time to figure out how to get it out.

I have red and blue Loctite here. Maybe just me but I have never heard of green loctite. Seems to me that every time green is mentioned with respect to carbs it is old fuel. Your problem is one I can not fix but I am thinking that it is still gunk related. I have one carb circuit here that is plugged. It was my own stupidity but it is plugged with a glass bead. Which of course I sprayed in there, but damn I can not get that single bead out, even with an E guitar string. Your problem may be similar.

looks like from what Greg posted, methylene chloride may work for ya........Maybe bring some water to a boil with carb bank in it, then remove bank and a drop some of that stuff in the circuit with carb bank hot. Least that way may be able to save the o-rings on fuel t's and not have to seperate carb bank. Just a guess....who knows.

So I have 2 things I can try...one is strip down the bank and drill out the passages from the plugs on either side of the carbs...a buddy of mine suggested that and then filling those plugs with jb weld (the he's a 20 yr barley builder)

Or...find the chemical mentioned above...anybody know where to source this chemical?

                What should I do?

how about heating the area up as suggested
and then blasting the port with compressed air?

no idea where to get that chemical from,
do a search on the internet, ur bound to find something.

You've got a third choice.... completely strip the carb body, including the throttle plate/shaft, and fully immerse it in some Berrymans's carb dip for 8 hours or so. I've never had that stuff fail at getting stubborn goo out of a carb... I've had to dip some a couple of times, but it always did the job for me.

So thanks to tv5150 ( overnighted set of 78 carbs, with great internals, for $150, great guy, and a huge help! ) ive stripped the new set down ( NO BLOCKAGES AFTER LIGHT CLEANING!!!!!!!!! ), cleaning em up a bit and gonna slap em on....so ive got a few different jet choices to try....mains: 137.5, 142.5, 145.....pilot: 42.5, 45.....air jet: 180, 210....im running kerker 4-1 no baffle, and individual pods....what should I start with? i realize its more of a test and tune, i was running 145 main, 45 pilot, 180 air...bogged down at high rpm, was quick but not what i think it should be, and had horrible (25-28 mpg's )...

Since ALL is stock on mine, I can only advise that find some baffleing to go back in that exhaust. It will help with reducing that 'spread' of running good at lower rpm and high rpm closer to a normal running scoot. With what your intake and exhaust set-up are, it's not gonna give you the best of both worlds as it is. There is a link here somewhere that is a generic procedure to setting up, with testing procedures to get the idle circuit and main circuit mixtures correct, starting with the main circuit first to pull hard, even and smooth from the 4k rpm range up to the redline. Someone may chime in with that link. A good read to get U headed towards the CORRECT procedure.....welcome to Mikuni land....

Here is a basic CARB JETTING CHART however, I would start out at stock 137.5 and work from there.

Always start with the stock setup and change ONLY 1 thing at a time.

BTW.....I'll take your old carbs off you. PM me what you want.
